What is Row Extreme?
Row Extreme Ltd was established in 2005 by Richard Wood to facilitate The World Row Challenge.

Richard Wood

Richard has nearly 10 years experience of Ocean Rowing including a double and solo attempt on the Atlantic. He built one boat and re-fitted a second which has giving him unique and valuable experience in boat construction and his successful solo Atlantic row in 2004 has provided a firm foundation for this ultimate attempt.
His wide experience in successful project management not only within ocean rowing but also outside the fraternity in his professional capacity as a ‘Social Entrepreneur’ includes a Guinness World Record and Project Management that led to raising over £4million for the Developing World. He was responsible for organising and delivering the nations largest chain of Restricted Service License Radio Stations and has pioneered a number of other cutting edge initiatives. He is a Director of Youth Community Media a not for profit company which has just won a 5 year fm broadcasting licence for a Youth Community Radio Station in Worcester.
Guts, determination and the will to win under extreme circumstances has characterised Richard’s life achievements.
He has successfully worked with sponsors and partners in the past developing excellent relationships and fulfilling project remits to the satisfaction of all concerned going over and above the call of duty on many occasions to offer the best possible rewards for such valued commitment.
Richard is an experienced public speaker and he has the ability to motivate and inspire an audience and his considerable skill. He published his first book “Naked Ambition” ‘My quest to row an ocean’ in 2006, hailed as a ‘must read’ for anyone contemplating an ocean row or captivated by adventure on the high seas. His wide experience with the media has developed and maintained good, positive working relationships to the benefit of the ‘cause’.
His experience of charitable fund raising and linking projects together to maximise the mutual benefit for all those concerned was clearly demonstrated during the last row. In partnership with his local Hospice St Richard’s, which raised over £20,000 for the organisation and helped them keep a very high media profile for several years.
Row Extreme provides the vehicle for all Richard’s considerable skills to be channeled into the development and outworking of one of the greatest challenges of human endurance ever to be staged. It will enable the same to be true for the Expedition Sponsor and World Row Challenge Team alike.
