Fact file:

 

3 Ocean Legs:

- Pacific Ocean: Australia to South America

 (approx 8000 miles, 5 months)

- Atlantic Ocean: South America to South Africa

 (approx 5000 miles, 3 months)

- Indian Ocean: South South Africa to Australia

 (approx 7000 miles, 4 months)

 

 

2 offshore re-supply and crew change rendezvous:

- The boat will rendezvous with the support team offshore between legs. Once off South America and once off South Africa.

 

 

NO landfall all the way round:

- The boat, expedition leader and two of the 5 selected crew will remain at sea for the total duration of the challenge.

 

 

4 elite crewmembers will be lead by Richard Wood:

- 4 crewmembers were recently selected for the challenge at The World Row Challenge Selection Weekend at the YMCA National Centre in Lakeside Cumbria UK.

 

 

Bespoke, high tech 'ocean-four' boat:

- A high-tech, 4 berth ocean rowing boat is to be custom built for the challenge.

 

 

Massive exercise in Teamwork on and offshore:

- The success of the challenge depends upon excellent teamwork between the rowing crew, on and offshore support and logistics team and the challenge club members.

 

 

Expedition starts late in 2007

Provisional length of voyage: total 12 months
